No. Netmediums strictly does not allow hosting of any adult sites or content. If found, prompt action shall be taken against the site.

How does Netmediums provide customer support ?

How will I be billed for my account ?
We offer various billing choices. If you are in India, you can choose to pay through crossed cheque/bank draft/cash in our Bank account. You can also pay online through Credit Card from anywhere in the world.

Is there any Money Back guarantee ?
Netmediums does not offer any money back guarantee. However, we give upto 50% refund incase of cancellation of hosting plans only on advance notice. Under no circumstances are domain registration orders cancelled or domain registration payments refunded.

Is domain name registration included with hosting plans ?
No. You need to register Domain name separately. Most of our clients already have domain names when they choose to purchase our hosting services. You can choose to register domain name through us.

Do I need to have a domain name before I sign up for a hosting plan ?
No you do not require a domain name to sign up or purchase any of our hosting plans. But a Domain name is must to setup and utilize the hosting services. You can register a domain during or after signing up for any of our hosting plans. Purchasing a hosting plan without havng a domain name is not advised.

What domain name extensions do you support for hosting ?
We support virtually all top level domains ( .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name) and all country level extentions like .us etc.

Can I host multiple domain in a single hosting account ?
No. This feature is not available at present.

What shopping carts are included in your hosting plans ?
We provide 2 Full ecommerce shopping carts on our hosting and reseller plans. You can find more description about them and links to their parent sites within your control panel.

What pre-installed scripts are there with your hosting plans ?
The following scripts are pre-installed and ready to use in the CGI Centre section of your control panel. Some of these scripts may vary from time to time. Please check your control panel for exact scripts.
Simple CGI Wrapper:
The CGI Wrapper is a gateway program that allows users to run CGI scripts without compromising the security of the web server. The CGI Wrapper allows the scripts to run with the permissions of the user who owns the script. It is configured to run user scripts which are located in the /public_html/cgi-bin/ directory. You can enable the CGI Wrapper by clicking on this feature.
Random HTML Generator:
The Random HTML Generator randomly generates text on your web page. It picks an HTML string out of a list and inserts it in an SSI (Server Side Includes) enabled web page. You page needs to have an .shtml extension for this feature to work. To setup the Random HTML Generator simply click on it and input the text that you wish to have generated randomly.
Simple Guest Book:
The Guest Book is a simple guest book generator. To setup this feature click on it and then copy and paste the code generated into your page.
Advanced Guest Book:
The Advanced Guest Book Powered-By: PHP/4.3.2 is just plain cool! It is a PHP BBS turned in to a guest book. This is a simple to install program that does it all. It creates a MySQL data base and installs the code for the GUESTBOOK. It does not get any better than this!
Counter:
This feature allows you to setup a counter, a clock, or a date box for a page on your website. You need to generate the code for each script that you want to use. To setup this feature select the radio button for the specific script that you want to generate, select options and click on Make HTML, then simply copy and paste the code provided into your web page.
Clock:
This utility will create a real time java clock for your site. Very similar to the clock available inside the counter option. To setup this feature select the options that you want and click Save to generate the HTML code to insert into your pages.
Countdown:
This will create a countdown box that counts down to a specified date. To setup the Countdown enter the date that you would like to count down to and click on Make HTML to generate the HTML code to insert into your pages.
Entropy Search:
This is a simple search engine that will index the pages within your domain. To setup the Entropy Search click on Setup Search Engine and you will be provided with the HTML code that you will need to insert in your pages where you want the search box to appear. Once you have entered the code into your pages and have uploaded them to your account, revisit this area and click on Rebuild Search Index to complete the installation.
Entropy Banner:
Entropy Banner is a simple random banner generator. You can use Entropy Banner to display random banners on your web pages. To setup this feature click on it, copy and paste the code into the pages where you would like to show the banners. To add banners, click on Add Banners. You can also modify the Rotation of the banners by clicking on Modify Rotation. NOTE: You must name your pages that contain the code for your banner rotation with the extension .shtml in order for this feature to work.

Can I access my domain with and without the 'www' in front ?
Yes, you will be able to access your domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name.

Can you help me with my CGI script configuration ?
We will avail you with all the necessary information you need to setup your scripts on our servers. However, due to the large number of scripts we cannot know or be familiar with each script.

Can I have unlimited POP3 email accounts on all my domains ?
Yes, barring some introductory and small acccounts, you can create virtually unlimited POP3 email accounts under your hosting plan resources. For details, please see the detailed hosting features of the hosting plan your are interested in.

Do you allow forums ?
Yes, we do allow all php based forums. However, we do not allow CGI based forums like ikonboard etc. You can use forums like phpbb, invisionboard, Vbulletin etc.

Do you offer webmail service ?
Yes, all our plan come inbuilt with web based email service which gives you the freedom to check your email from anywhere in the world oninternet. We also have a choice of web email programs like Neomail and Horde to access email through browsers.

Do you support Active Server Pages (ASP) ?
No at present we do not support ASP on Linux.

Do you support Microsoft Frontpage Extensions ?
Yes we support Microsoft Frontpage Extensions 98, 2000 and 2002 on our servers. You can install Frontpage Extensions from your control panel.

Do you support MySQL ?
Yes we do support MySQL Databases. We provide the latest stable version of MySQL.

Do you support SSH and Telnet ?
No, we do not offer Telnet and SSH access at present due to security reasons.

Does Netmediums support php, MySQL and/or Perl ?
Yes, all our servers support latest stable versions of Php, MySQL and Perl.

Do you also support anonymous FTP ?
We do not support anonymous FTP at present.

How often do you take backups ?
We have weekly backups to second drive in each server. Although we take all the care to make sure that your data is safe with us, we still suggest that you yourself take periodical backups of your website from control panel.

How do you treat Spamming or Bulk Emailing ?
We have a zero tolerance policy on Spamming and Bulk Emailing. Netmediums users that are found to spam or bulk email will be immediately removed from the network and are subject to a fine of $100.

What server configuration do you use ?
We use industrial grade strength web server equipment for high performance and reliability. They include AMD Duron or Intel P3 & P4 and Xeon Dual processors with 1.0 to 2.0 Ghz. All servers comes with Red Hat 7.2 & above Linux OS, dual 100Mbit Ethernet adapters, a minimum of 1GB of memory and a server grade mainboard and chipset.

What scripts are banned to use at Netmediums ?

Formmail.cgi and Formmail.pl from Matt's script archive are banned because of security reasons. Spammers are known to use spam using your formmail without your knowledge. You are free to use other scripts like bnbform. Check it

Do you scan emails for viruses ?
Yes, all our hosting plans include auto incoming email virus scanning. We daily update our virus fingerprint database. Since we do not guarantee that our software will catch every possible virus or worm that might be sent to you, you should take your own precautions and run your own virus detection software on your own computer as well. You can obtain such software from http://www.norton.com/, http://www.nai.com/, http://www.mcafee.com, or http://antivirus.about.com/.

How do I enable my account for webmail access ?
All email accounts created from "Add/Remove accounts" section of your Mail menu in Cpanel have webmail access. You do not have to do anything to enable it.

Is there a limit to how many emails I can send out from my email account ?
Netmediums follows a zero tolerance policy for the use of its network for spamming or commercial advertisements or bulkmailing, which violates the rules and regulations. The following limits apply to Email accounts and mailing lists on each domain.

Maximum emails permitted per minute is 25

Maximum 800 emails in one day per domain.

If you exceed above limits, you will get bounced messages with "undeliverable" messages.

Why does Netmediums sets limits on emails ?

Well, all your domains hosted on shared hosting platform which means your server used for hosting multiple domains and other customers share same resources like your domain. So in order to create stable plaform for all customers and to fight against spamming we set these limits. If your mailing lists exceeding these limits then we suggest you to use thirdparty mailing list providers like http://www.zinester.com

Customers who wants to utilize mass mailing options should choose dedicated servers. Please contact support if you have any further queries.

Someone is sending spam or viruses that seem to come "from" an address at my domain ?
This is very common abuse happening with many domain name owners. Spammers do not use their own domain names in SPAM and viruses usually select adresses randomly from other people's address books. There is nothing that a webhost can do to stop or prevent spammers or virus mails from such practices.

What is the correct URL to login to webmail ?
There ae two ways of logging in to your webmail account. You can either login from your Cpanel, or by visiting http://www.yourdomainname.com/webmail and fill in the username and password at the prompt.

How do I setup my email client to retrieve email from my accounts ?
Follow the instruction given in the Mail manager menu of your Cpnanel to configure your email client for retrieving emails.

Can I install phpMyAdmin?
No, users are not allowed to install their own versions of phpMyAdmin. Instead, we offer this program through the CPanel for you to use. PhpMyAdmin is at the bottom of the MySQL databases section in the CPanel.

Can you disable or turn off php Safe Mode?
No, we cannot disable php safe mode. All our servers have php safe mode enabled due to security reasons.

How can I create a MySQL database?
Login to your Cpanel then goto --> MySQL Databases --> Add a new database, then create a user. Then all you need to do is add the user into the database. See documentation at the bottom left of your CPanel for more details.

How do i connect my database from my pc or remote computers ?
We do not allow database connections to mysql server from remote computers. Our database server remote access port is closed due to security reasons. So you cannot connect from ODBC/JDBC/Macromedia Dreamweaver applications. You have to connect your databases from your website through scripts or cpanel >> phpmyadmin tool for managing your databases. That's the reason our mysql server name is always called -- localhost

My PHP program tells me it can't access the database and gives errors ?
When you create your MySQL database, first you create a database by giving it a name. Then you create a user by entering a username and password. For best results keep your database name, database username, and database password at no fewer than 6 and no more than 7 letters or numbers. Then you must be sure to add the user to the database. In your script, your database name and your database username must be prefaced by your hosting account username_. Your password, however, stands alone.

For example: If your hosting account username is "host1", your database name is "testdb", your database username is "dbuser", and your database password is "passwd", here is how you need to put them in your script:

database server should be : localhost
database name should be written as host1_testdb
database username should be written as host1_dbuser
database password should be written simply as passwd

Our Cpanel servers are running php 4.3.2+ and MySql 4.0.13 stable release. We will upgrade php and mysql from cpanel servers if there are any stable versions available.

How can I acess my cPanel behind tight firewall ?
You can access cPanel and Webmail behind tight firewall or your company's restrictive firewall using the script from below link: http://myplace.dk/php/cpanelproxy/
IMPORTANT:
Installation requires that you have access to cPanel, so you need to use a system that isn't behind a firewall to install it initially. There are instructions embedded in the php file, but here's what you can do to get it working.
1) Load up cPanel (www.yourdomain.com/cpanel or www.yourdomain.com:2085)
2) Add a subdomain called cpanel.
3) Copy the script cpanelproxy.php to the /public_html/cpanel/ directory.
4) Modify (or add) the file /public_html/cpanel/.htaccess to include
the following 3 lines:

We offer Shared secure server for all our customers. There is nothing to setup and you can access to your secure server.

I lost my control panel logins or passwords. How to get those logins ?
Please open helpdesk ticket at http://support.netmediums.net with your full name, domain name and username. Please also quote your payment mode and receipt no. You will get a return email containing your login and password at the authorized email address.

What is Data Transfer ( Bandwidth ) ?
Whenever a visitor comes to your site, data is sent from our web servers to your visitor's computer. This data can be composed of web pages, images, compressed files, or anything else on your site which can be viewed or downloaded by the visitors. Your Email traffic , FTP ( File Uploads and downloads ) Counts towards bandwidth.All this requested data added together equals your total data transfer. The more visitors you have, the higher data transfer limit you'll need. You can always buy additional data transfer as your site grows.

When I try to access my site it says: "Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server."
This is caused by many reasons. Most of the common reasons are listed below, it has to be due to one or more of the following:
1: Error is caused by not having a home page file inside of your www or public_html directory. Once you upload your homepage file into this directory, the error message will go away and your new home page will load. Our servers recognize a number of file names as home pages: the most common ones are index.html and index.htm.

2. The permissions of your public_html directory are not correct. The right permissions are Unix 755.

3. You may have uploaded your hompage, index.html or index.htm in uppercase for example like Index.html. Please make sure your homepage index file is in lowecase.
